Kemi Kakonge-Ruyondo

Kemi holds a Master of Environmental Management from Yale University and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Policy from the University of California, Davis. She is the Co-founder and Director of Women in GIS Uganda, where she leads efforts to increase the visibility, skills, and leadership of women in geospatial fields. With professional experience at the World Resources Institute and German Development Cooperation (GIZ), Kemi has worked across Africa, Latin America, North America, and Europe to advance inclusive environmental solutions. Her passion for this work stems from a lifelong commitment to equity; recognizing that who collects and uses data shapes how communities adapt, thrive, and lead in the face of climate change.
